Info: Anton Reicha (1770- 1836) was a contemporary and lifelong friend of Beethoven. Today he is best know for his early contributions to the woodwind quintet and for teaching such pupils as Franz Liszt and Hector Berlioz. He fell into obsurity shortly after his death.
Although little known today, Franz Lachner (1803-1890) was a well-known composer in his day. He work was influenced by Ludwig van Beethoven and his friend Franz Schubert. The Septet takes after the Beethoven work. Today he is known for his organ sonatas and chamber music.
